Study on alteration of tonal threshold after acoustic reflex research

Resumo
Objetivo: estudar a mudança do limiar tonal na audiometria após a pesquisa do reflexo acústico.
Métodos: foram avaliados 113 indivíduos por meio dos procedimentos de anamnese, otoscopia, audiometria tonal em cabina acústica, pesquisa do reflexo acústico estapediano nas freqüências de 500, 1k, 2k e 4 kHz e reteste da audiometria tonal. Foram incluídos no estudo os sujeitos cujas estimulações sonoras foram superiores a 90dBNA na pesquisa do reflexo acústico, na condição contralateral.
Resultados: a análise estatística revelou que a média da diferença entre as mesmas freqüências antes e depois da pesquisa do reflexo acústico é sempre abaixo de 5 dB (a maior diferença obtida foi de 1,3dB). Quando comparados os resultados entre ambas as orelhas, estes foram semelhantes estatisticamente.
Conclusão: não houve alteração estatisticamente significante nos limiares tonais após a pesquisa do reflexo acústico na amostra estudada.

Abstract
Purpose: this research aims at studying the change in tonal threshold audiometry after the research of the acoustic reflex.
Methods: 113 individuals were valued based on procedures of anamnesis, otoscopy, tonal audiometry in acoustic cabin, research of the acoustic reflex in the frequencies: 500, 1k, 2k and 4 kHz, and tonal audiometry retesting. The subjects whose sound stimulations were above 90dBHL, in the acoustic reflex research, in the counterlateral condition, were included in the study.
Results: the statistical analysis showed that the average difference among the same frequencies before and after the research of the acoustic reflex is always below 5 dB (the higher difference obtained was 1.3dB). When the results between both ears were compared, those were similar statistically.
Conclusion: this research demonstrated that there was no statistically significant alteration in the tonal thresholds, after the research of the acoustic reflex, in the studied sample.
