Study of possible relationship between tinnitus and vertigo

Resumo
Objetivo: verificar a frequência e possível associação entre queixa de zumbido e vertigem.
Métodos: foram incluídos na pesquisa 50 sujeitos sem perda auditiva com ou sem vertigem, de ambos os gêneros com idade entre 45 a 64 anos, A queixa de zumbido e vertigem foi verificada através da anamnese audiológica padrão.
Resultados: pode-se verificar que não existe associação significativa entre queixa de zumbido e vertigem observada nos indivíduos avaliados.
Conclusão: o estudo demonstrou que na amostra não houve associação significativa entre queixa de zumbido e vertigem.

Abstract
Purpose: to check possible association and periodicity among of tinnitus complaint and vertigo.
Methods: 50 subjects without hearing loss with or with no vertigo, from both genders with age ranging from 45 to 64 years were included in the research. The tinnitus and vertigo complaint was verified through standard audiological history.
Results: no association between tinnitus and vertigo was found in these subjects.
Conclusion: the results from this pilot study suggest no association between tinnitus complaint and vertigo.
